Caprol polyglycerol esters (PGE’s) are generally prepared by esterification of select polyglycerol molecules with fatty acids or by alcoholysis of a vegetable oil with a polyglycerol. Their range in HLB makes them suitable for both w/o and o/w systems. PGE molecular weights vary from low to high and their form at room temperature ranges from a viscous liquid to a brittle solid. PGE’s are useful as solubilizers, clouding agents, crystallization inhibitors and suspending agents.
Medium chain esters are used as high quality carriers and solvents in the Flavor and Fragrance Industries. Their low odor and bland flavor profiles, lipophilic solvency, low viscosity, oxidative stability and ethanol solubility are properties that become the basis for selection of medium chain esters although some stearines exhibit limited solubility in medium chain esters. Stearine solubility, though, will improve in the presence of elevated temperatures
PURECO products are refined, bleached and deodorized natural vegetable oils. Specific PURECO oils may be partially hydrogenated to provide melting and lubrication properties required for their application in pharmaceutical, nutritional and cosmetic products.
