Medium chain esters can be used in the manufacture of topical aerosols, foams, creams, ointments and lotions as viscosity modifiers. The esters are almost odor-free, low in color and bland in flavor. Their viscosity at room temperature is less than those of common vegetable oils such as cottonseed and soybean.
