Cognition
High C8 MCTs to provide ketone energy that can function as fuel for the brain.
Medium Chain Triglycerides for Cognitive Health
Glucose is the brain's primary energy source but, as we age, glucose uptake in the brain decreases and studies have shown that learning and memory may be affected by diminishing use of glucose.1-4
However, ketones provide a secondary energy source for the brain5 and studies have shown that MCTs can increase ketone development and thereby improve cognitive performance, memory and visual attention in healthy elderly adults.6
ABITEC MCTs are available as a CAPTEX® oils or NUTRI SPERSE® lipid powders to ensure easy dispersal and incorporation in a range of formulations such as functional beverages, coffee creamers, bars and gummies.
Key Features of ABITEC MCTs
- Suitable for keto diets
- Not manufactured from bioengineered ingredients (Non-GMO)
- Excellent stability with 24-36 month shelf life

- Vegan options and clean label friendly
- Coconut, palm-free and RSPO options available
High C8 MCTs shown to increase ketone production
MCTs with high C8 have been shown to increase ketone production compared to longer-carbon MCTs.7,8 Specifically, a recent study9 demonstrated that C8 fatty acids derived from C8 MCTs increased blood ketones three times more than C10 MCTs over an 8-hour period.
ABITEC's CAPTEX 8000 and NUTRI SPERSE MCT C8 both have a high content of C8 acyl groups and can be taken alone or integrated into various formulations.
